Tire Adventures

The front Prelude tire was making strange noises on the way to work this morning. It sounded like I had my own personal helicopter following me down Rt 28. I managed to make it to the parking lot okay. Fast forward 12 hours, I leave work to go home.

The noise didn't sound any louder than in the morning, but the car was noticeably louder. I checked earlier and none of the tires were flat... maybe a little low... Well. So, I'm driving down the toll road, and the noise gets increasingly louder. By the time I passed Hunter Mill, the car was shaking violently. I wish there was a loud pop I could recognize, but there wasn't. A some point the car started shaking so much, I was afraid the tire would pop off and there'd be a massive, possibly deadly accident on 267. So I pulled over. To the shoulder, slowly.

Thunk Thunk Thunk

The toll road has no shoulder. Well, very little. Definitely not enough for someone to get out, in the dark, with crazy fast vehicles blazing by.

I call Vadim. I attempt to change the tire. That's right, attempt. I fail. He offers to drive out. And thank goodness for that, because there was no way I could have changed the tire. No way. Talk about feeling helpless. Bah. My cell phone dies.

I try to move close and close to the Rt 7 exit. But really I could only stand the noise for a few mins. Turn car on, shift gear to Drive, Thunk Thunk Thunk... Thunk Thunk Thunk... shift gear to Park, turn car off. Rinse and Repeat.

Helpless. Hopeless. Sigh. Pathetic.
